Answers to some of the frequently asked questions:
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ON THE RIDE?
We do not mix large groups of people. The majority of rides are 4 - 6 people. Big groups are catered for by arrangement – e.g. Stag/Hen parties etc.
DO YOU CATER FOR BEGINNERS?
We are happy to take beginners as we have safe schoolmaster horses and ponies. If we have an advanced rider coming, we do not mix abilities. E.g. advanced and beginner all at the same time. When booking you will be asked to state how confident you are. If it is a mixed booking, advance and beginner, we do our best to allow the advanced rider some faster paces where safe and suitable to do so.
WHAT IS YOUR AGE LIMIT?
4 years minimum
DO YOU DO PUB RIDES/PICNIC RIDES?
Absolutely yes! We have some super pub stop offs and hitching rails mean you are welcome to enjoy your lunch in the bar or beer garden.
I’VE BEEN RIDING A NUMBER OF YEARS. WILL I BE BORED?
We pride ourselves on a superb selection of responsive fit horses. We do not just have trekking cobs, we also offer highly schooled ex eventers/show jumpers who will give you a beautiful fun but safe ride!
I’M BRINGING A GROUP OF 16 YOUNG PEOPLE. CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE US?
Often we split large groups and do ‘horse sessions’. Whilst half the group ride the other half do horse care and games on horseback. Suitable for young adults and children.
DO YOU HAVE AN UPPER WEIGHT LIMIT?
Because the horse available sometimes change you are advised to check at booking time. Generally we can always accommodate up to 15 stone.
I USED TO RIDE AGES AGO BUT I’VE LOST MY CONFIDENCE!
Walk this way! Again we specialize in relaxing the reluctant nervous rider back to full confidence with the aid of rock steady schoolmaster horses. We are sure to get you back in the saddle.
I WANT TO RIDE OUT AND I WANT TO LEARN BUT NOT IN THE ARENA.
The perfect option is an instructional hack. You ride out, enjoy the ride, the scenery, and the instructor teaches you as you go. One to one private instructional hacks are very popular.
DO YOU CATER FOR CORPORATE/HEN/STAG/GUIDES/GROUPS OF FRIEND?
We are happy to cater for large groups, but would urge you to look at the possibility of splitting groups of 20plus and take advantage of the fantastic range of activities offered at our sister company ‘ the Old Vicarage Adventure Centre’.
