The Riding for the Disabled Association is a UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of thousands of people through education, therapy and fun.
Country Treks is the base for the Pat Straughan RDA Group. Pat Straughan was an inspirational lady who hailed from Cleobury North. Pat was a horsewoman who lost her eye sight but found a way forward with the RDA. She went on to represent Great Britain at the Paralympics, winning a silver medal. The group was launched at an open day in August 2010, with Ricky Balshaw (Paralympic Silver Medallist) and blind rider Alicia Griffiths, both whom gave demonstrations of their amazing riding abilities.
New Riders Welcome
We regularly offer sessions for both adults and children with physical and learning disabilities. There is also opportunity to apply for funded sessions. We run these sessions with our amazing RDA volunteers, we couldn’t do what we do without them and to achieve more, we need more help! You could become part of this amazing and dynamic team!
Volunteering
Volunteering with RDA is fun, rewarding and confidence building just to mention a few benefits. If you have any time to spare we would love to hear from you. All Volunteers are trained so no need to have previous experience. You can make an enormous difference to someone’s life.
