About us

Steph is the owner and founder of Country Treks in the early days when it was just going to be 6 ponies at Ginny Hole,  now its more like 40! Steph has four children and although all competent riders it’s only Heidi who works sometimes taking rides. The rest of the family enjoy ‘Live the Adventure’ with her husband Ant who runs the adventure training and travel centre. Steph is BHS qualified and a UKCC Level 2 coach. She loves teaching and taking rides and now she has her super team of staff behind her. She tends to be found more and more at the front of the ride or in the school teaching. She has recently sat her BHS level 4 exam which now gives her professional accredited coach status having passed her Centre Manager exam. She is passionate about her team of staff, equine and human!

was working at Country Treks 15 years ago! She has been lured back as manager of the team, and her commitment and motivation keeps the atmosphere bubbling with fun. She is a welcoming host to our new riders and ensures the yard is spic and span and run to the highest of efficiency. You will soon realise why everyone loves to work with Karen, her wit and sense of fun keeps customers and staff smiling. She really is a great team builder and Karen is also beginning to take a lot more of the adult rides as customers always enjoy a mornings banter with the lovely Karen. She is the most bubbly fun person…we have yet to see her grumpy!! Her dedication to her job is 100% and she adores the team of equines and her team of staff.

Dan Everybody loves Dan. Charming, funny but absolutely passionate in sharing his knowledge and love for horses. He is now our chief instructor, UKCC level 2 coach and training for level 3. He learnt to ride here at Country Treks and is our home grown talent. Dan also loves competing and producing the young horses at Country Treks. He has a fabulous attitude and his sympathetic riding skills ensure our Country Treks horses are schooled and responsive. 2017 will bring an exciting year to Country Treks where we are expecting Dan to lead a few of our staff members out competing, showjumping and eventing.

Molly is often behind the scenes, but as we tell her every day she is the cog in the wheel. Molly is the one who takes care of the injured, she’s the ‘spotter’ who takes such good care of our valuable and most loved equines so that they are fit and ready to go when you come for your ride. The horses love Molly as she gives them all the TLC they deserve. She also keeps the yard spick and span and treats all the horses as if they were her own.

Roon Yes that’s her name! Our very talented instructor who is getting rave reviews. She is dedicated, hard working and hugely competitive so is fantastic for people that want to be pushed. She competes her own horse Phoenix to a very high level and has competed nationally for the Pony Club. She loves schooling our horses and ponies and taking rides up the Brown Clee! You will often see Roon in the arena teaching all ages and abilities- she has a real eye for getting people to the next stage of their riding.

Laura came many many years ago to Pony Camp and just hasn’t left. She joined us for her NVQ and BHS qualifications and has joined the team as a fully-fledged member of staff. She is following her dream to work with horses. Laura is a lovely friendly young lady who works full time in the office and ensures our website and social media is all up to date.  She is also an absolute genius behind the lense and her photo albums have been admired by customers who have gone on to buy prints of her wonderful photos. She is a real ‘creative’ type and given a theme the Pony Club hut is revamped. But she tells me regularly her true passion is leading the treks and teaching young children so we have the best of both worlds!

Chloe another home grown talent! Chloe learnt to ride at our Saturday Pony Club and is now a UKCC Level 1 Coach and training for Level 2. She has done her two years equine diploma at Hartpury College and is a very competent, knowledgeable member of staff despite her younger years. She particularly loves the chance to compete with the Country Treks horses and has won lots of showjumping competitions with some of our lovely horses! Chloe also loves to school the youngsters and falls in love with every horse she rides!

George was pretty much a self taught occasional rider when she joined Country Treks. Her bubbly enthusiasm and happy disposition makes her a firm favourite with the little ones. She gets rave reviews as she is always smiling and chatty. George is training with us for her BHS exams. You will often see her out on her favourite pony Evie!

Emma has her own horses and has competed at Horse of the Year Show. She has a wealth of knowledge and is training for her BHS exams with us at Country Treks. She is keen to learn everything we can teach her! You will meet her assisting teaching and riding out. She loves doing the gruffalo trail and pony camps and has had some great customer feedback!

Carol is hugely experienced and has been breaking and training young thoroughbred race horses for the last few years, a demanding tough job which she gave 100% commitment to. She still has a passion for racing and is extremely knowledgeable on the subject. However she is also an excellent instructor/guide. She is very kind, patient and brilliant at encouraging our more nervous riders… However she is equally good at leading a gallop!! She cares for all our horses like they are her own and is always committed to giving our customers the most amazing ride.

Emma Dainty is our physio. Once every six weeks our tried and trusted physio comes to check the health and well being of our beautiful horses and helps to keep them in tip top shape.

Jim the farrier, we can’t do without him! So astute, so knowledgable and so caring with our horses. ‘No foot, no horse’ is an old saying and to be fair Jim ensures we’ve got the very best attention for our horses.

Gary the Groom is our ex Wembley show groom who preens the horses to top show level, with beautiful pulled manes & tails and they are also clipped to perfection.

Mel Lewis is our saddle fitter. You won’t find tatty old saddles at our yard! Steph’s sister, Mel, is a top Society of Master Saddlers approved fitter and she comes to the yard every 6 weeks with her keen eye for detail and changes in horses shape she makes sure our horses are comfortable with their saddles and that they are the highest quality.

Severn Edge Vets- Mark our vet is pretty much part of our team. Our vet is an essential part of the maintenance of horses health. Mark is a point of guidance and gives us sensible advice. Our veterinary visits are vital to the well being of our equines.
