BHS Ride Leader

By completing the Ride Leader exams at Country Treks, you will be able to show your level of competence in the equestrian tourism industry. Employers can be assured that you are competent at the level you are qualified to and your clients will know that with you they are in safe hands.

Working in close collaboration with The Trekking and Riding Society of Scotland, The Association of Irish Riding Establishments and The Welsh Trekking and Riding Association, we have created progressive vocational qualifications specifically for those in the equestrian tourism industry. The qualifications particularly benefit those who escort treks, trail rides and hacks. These BHS Ride Leader qualifications provide industry related, recognised standards of competence.

Ride Leader Level 2 and 3 Certificates

This is the first level of BHS Ride Leader qualifications formally known as the Equine Tourism qualification. It provides assurance that you are capable of helping first time riders on short rides, treks or hacks, and able to assist in the daily running of a commercial equestrian establishment.

Entry Requirements

All candidates must already hold the BHS Riding & Road Safety Certificate before applying for any of these exams at Country Treks.

You must be 16 years or over and hold a current Health & Safety First Aid at Work, BHS First Aid or appropriate National equivalent.

If you already hold your BHS Stage 1, you can convert this to a Ride Leader Level 2 qualification simply by taking some additional units.
