About Our Riding Holidays

We've been running riding holidays for 30 years and we've narrowed down the perfect itinerary for a weekend of adventure on horseback.

Based in a quiet village in Shropshire, Stottesdon- we are nestled amongst permissive fields, bridleways and stunning off road tracks with views for miles of the Clee Hills and surrounding areas- the perfect destination for trail rides.

Equally, at Country Treks HQ we are lucky enough to have our very own 60x30 arena with a full set of dressage boards for our dancing divas or full course of show jumps and fillers for those who like to jump!

Our routes have always been a favourite with our customers- in fact people travel from all over the world to come year on year. The riding here is stunning, there is no doubt about it! Our routes extend over the Shropshire Hills and our trail riding holidays are the perfect way to go exploring. Whether you're planning to come alone or with a group of friends you are almost always guaranteed to leave here exchanging numbers and planning the next one.!

Camp or Trail Ride?

Its a tough decision!

If you're someone who enjoys exploring the off road tracks, quiet lanes and bridleways then a TRAIL RIDE is for you! Your riding holiday will purely be enjoying the scenery from the comfort of your horse... oh and the odd pub stop too!

But if you are keen to mix your holiday up with a combination of riding lessons, treks and maybe even some good old fashioned pony club style mounted games then a RIDING CAMP is the perfect option. The great thing about our camps is they can be tailor made to the group.

Example Itinerary:

The Best Ever Shropshire Hills Trail Ride

Day 1: We meet at the yard at 9.00am where all the horses have been prepared for the trail ride and are ready for the off! We will be climbing up to the top of the Titterstone Clee, followed by exhilarating turns of speed along the fantastic canter tracks, stopping for lunch at Wheathill where the horses can chill and take a breather while the riders enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch there is a mammoth mission as we make our way through woodland tracks opening up onto the wide open space of the Nordy Ring, plenty of opportunity to give the horses a leg stretch! Endless gallops and challenging terrain awaits…

The final challenge of the day will be a climb towards the top of the Brown Clee, reaching the highest point in Shropshire The Abdon Burf which is 1700 feet above sea level, ears may start popping at this point!! We then make a quick descent, dropping off the summit into our lovely fields for the night and put our equine companions to bed for the evening. We then hop you all into our minibus and take you on the final leg of day 1 back to base where our chef will prepare a delicious home cooked meal. Our guide will arrange a pick up time for the following morning, allowing a relaxing start. The Fighting Cocks pub is just a stroll across the lawn and may make a nice place for a digestif or enjoy your own tipple in the privacy of the centre.

Day 2: After waking up from a good nights rest and enjoying a hearty breakfast we make our way back up to the horses for a mass wake up call (they often have a tendency to lie down and pretend they aren’t there.) We tack up and set off to finish our ascent on the Brown Clee taking a ride over a second summit The Clee Burf.

We have a bit of a breather when we reach the top and check out the views, we can look right the way over to the Long Mynd and also observe the miles covered the previous day. We then make our way down and head off into the beautiful Boyne Estate, with their fantastic woodland bridleways, leading down to a lunch stop at the Boyne Arms. After lunch we head off an old railway, which goes on for mile, taking us onto quiet pretty lanes, which will eventually take us home! When we arrive back at the yard exhausted and beaming, our faithful four legged friends have a final sponging down and are turned out to gives their hooves a rest.

After a cup of tea and a large slice of gorgeous cake it’s time for goodbyes, exchanging of emails and looking at our next adventure!!!
